Lower Silesia is a land of castles, palaces and old country estates. Because of its strategic location and turbulent history, rulers and noble families built fortresses and residences here for centuries. In the 19th century the Jelenia Góra valley in particular became a favourite of the Prussian royal family and aristocracy, who created magnificent summer residences and landscape parks there.
The result is unique: within easy reach of Domstolat there are more than thirty castles and palaces in an area of just some 100 km². It is no coincidence that this region, the Valley of Palaces and Gardens, is often compared with the famous castle country of the Loire in France.
