For nature lovers and active holidaymakers, Domstolat is a wonderful base. Head straight from the house into the hills, cycle along the river, go climbing, canoeing or horse riding – and in winter the ski slopes of the Giant Mountains (Karkonosze) are only a short drive away.

Hiking
Lace up your walking boots and step straight out of Domstolat into nature. Walk to the distinctive Sokoliki hills (the Falcon Mountains), the ruins of Bolczów Castle or the spectacular rock formations of Skalny Most in the Rudawy Janowickie Landscape Park.
Bukowiec, just a 15-minute drive away, is also beautiful: here nature and historic landscape gardens with woods, meadows and small lakes merge into one another.
Want to go higher? From Karpacz (30 min.) you can climb Śnieżka, the “Snow Peak”: at 1,603 metres, the highest mountain in the Giant Mountains, on the border between Poland and the Czech Republic. A fantastic mountain hike – and in winter a real adventure.

Cycling
Get on your bike at Domstolat and follow the lovely routes along the River Bóbr, or head into the hills and forests of the Rudawy Janowickie. Electric mountain bikes are available to hire nearby, and on Komoot you will find a variety of routes for both leisurely and more challenging rides.

Swimming & spa
Even when the weather is not at its best, you can enjoy a good swim. Visit the swimming pool and spa at Wojanów Palace, or drive to Termy Cieplickie, a large complex with indoor and outdoor pools in the historic spa town of Cieplice, now part of Jelenia Góra.

Winter sports
In winter the Giant Mountains become a superb winter sports area. Karpacz (30 min.) is one of Poland’s best-known ski resorts, and Szklarska Poręba (40 min.) offers an extensive ski area with modern lifts and a range of slopes.
Downhill skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, floodlit slopes, ski schools and equipment hire: you will find it all in the area.
Love winter sports, but not the crowds of a ski resort? Then Domstolat is a great base: enjoy peace and space with your favourite people, while the slopes are still close by. An affordable, child-friendly alternative to the Alps.

Climbing & bouldering
The rock formations of the neighbouring Rudawy Janowickie make the area popular with climbers and boulderers. Many rock faces are fitted with bolts and offer routes at different levels. The famous Polish mountaineer Wanda Rutkiewicz took her first steps as a climber here.

Canoeing
The Bóbr flows right past Domstolat, but for much of the year the water here is too low to set off by canoe from the house. A little further downstream, at Nielestno, you can hire canoes and pontoons for beautiful trips through the green landscape of the Bóbr valley. Choose a relaxed trip of a few hours towards Wleń and Marczów, or make a longer day of it.

Horse riding
Exploring Lower Silesia on horseback is a special experience. There are several riding stables in the area where you can go on lovely guided rides through woods, hills and open countryside. Our local manager will be happy to help you book.

Fishing
Prefer to take it easy? Trout are among the fish in the Bóbr, and with the right fishing permit you can fish at various spots along the river. Our local manager can tell you where to go and what you need.
Want to discover more? At Domstolat you will find an information folder with lovely walks, days out, routes, addresses and practical tips to help you make the most of your stay.
